Re: Industrial Deposits for Water, Sewer and Natural Gas

Effective Immediately, MUPB’s policy change to include new Industrial Customers

The Morehead Utility Plant Board (MUPB) may require a minimum cash deposit or other guaranty to secure payment of bills. MUPB reserves the right at all times to adjust the amount of a customer’s security deposit if it deems that MUPB is not adequately protected from default. Service may be refused or discontinued for failure to pay the requested deposit. Deposits are required upon initiation of service and any modification of service including but not limited to a change in residence or account status.

Industrial customer deposits shall be based on actual usage of the customer on the same or similar premise for the most recent 12-month period, if such information is available. If usage information is not available, the deposit will be based on the average bills of similar customers and premises in the system. The deposit shall not exceed two-twelfths (2/12) of the customer’s actual or estimated bill.

Deposits can be reduced and or waived by a letter of credit or based on credit ratings from Moody’s, Standard and Poor’s, or Fitch.
